about

Precog Records brings you a new debut release on the label by Edinburgh producer ’The Last Days Of Pompeii’, with his new Ep called ‘LXXXVIII’.

TLDOP explores his love for 80’s synth music, bringing with it a fresh take on the classic synth wave and electro-pop sound, with fantastic guest vocalists to match. This Ep features vocals from ‘Kirsten Adamson’ and ‘Danny Scrimshaw’, featuring on tracks Run, To Dream, and Electric Love.

Alongside the lush synths, drums, and sampling, the Ep also features live bass played by ‘Emmett Christie’ on tracks Run, Waiting, and Electric Love.

LXXXVIII is now available to pre-order on the Precog Records Bandcamp page - Release Date 19th March 2021

The Last Days of Pompeii AKA Ru Stewart. Ru started the project as an idea for a live show blending analog and digital instruments, drawing on inspiration from early 80s groove pioneers such as  David Frank of The System, Nic Martinelli, and Arthur Russell.

In the studio, he writes and records on: Yamaha DX21, Korg X5D, Dave Smith Mopho X4, Moog Sub37, Fender Jazz Bass, Roland TR8, and for the live show controls these elements with APC40, LaunchPad, MPK25, and Roland SPD-SX. For vocals, he works with session singers then triggers and manipulates these tracks live.

Having studied drumming at the Academy of Contemporary Music, he was taught by some of the country's top musicians and it was here that he became interested in U.K Bass and Jungle. His passion for these genres meant he picked up DJing and combined with his pro drumming skills allowed him to curate Drummer Vs D.J. events in Aberdeen.

Throughout his musical career, Ru has toured the UK, Europe, and Australia providing solid foundations for a varied line-up of ensembles. Playing festivals such as Kelburn Garden Party, Audio Soup, Eden Festival,  Doune The Rabbit Hole, and Beat Herder with bands including Nipples of Venus, Banjo Lounge 4, and Kirsten Adamson.

This project see’s Ru move from behind the drum kit to centre stage at the helm of Boogie, Disco, and House loops, synths, and live drums; able to remix tracks on the fly and adapt to the personality of the crowd.
